Amineh Ahmed is a beautiful talented young Pukhtana, her recent book Sorrow and Joy among Muslim Women: The Pukhtuns of Northern Pakistan is a true description of the customs and cultures surround the joy and sorrow of the Pukhtuns.
Amineh is from the Hoti family of Mardan and has ties to Swat through her mother, who is from the Swat Royal Family. She is married to a Pukhtun and has two children.
She recieved her BSc 1991-94 in Social Anthropology, from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences. In 2004 she recieved her Ph.D.in Social Anthropology from Cambridge University, LucyCavendish College, U.K.
From being a Voluntary Social Worker (teaching income generation skills)
in Islamabad's Afghan refugee camp, Pakistan to giving, to debating Islam with her father Professor Akbar Ahmed (the Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies at American University in Washington DC.and a renouned scholar
on the Pukthuns and Islam), Amineh has been very busy and achieved more than one person can ever dream of.
